Working in St. John’s, NL

The Apollo is a Ferry that provides daily service between St. Barbe, Newfoundland and Blanc Sablon in Quebec. This vessel can accommodate up to 240 passengers and 75 vehicles, and we recently had the opportunity to complete some machining repairs on its diesel engine. We were called in after a number of cracks were found in the landing surface of all 9 cylinder liners in the block. The cylinders had an ID of 320mm and we proceeded to bore all 9 of them, after which we helped with the installation of the new sleeves. The entire project took a couple of weeks and gave some of our lucky machinists an opportunity to see the east coast.
