All across Canada wind farms have been popping up as an environmentally friendly way to supplement our energy needs. For the past year In-Situ Machining has had the opportunity to work on the towers at a number of these farms, especially ones located in our Atlantic Provinces. So far we’ve worked in PEI, New Brunswick and Newfoundland to help machine the wind turbine tower flanges back to spec. These towers sections are manufactured overseas and then shipped to Canada and many of them have flanges that appear warped and are failing inspections. Fortunately, we have the equipment and capability to help machine these flanges which range in size from 9’ to 13’ in diameter.
